Reform the UN
The first article of the UN charter states that the main purpose of the UN is to prevent war. The UN has failed, just like its predecessor the League of Nations, to deliver for the simple reason that every action depends on the voluntary compliance of the participating states. That is why the UN has failed. Major reform is required to enlarge both the UN General Assembly and the UN Security Council. The veto powers of the five permanent members has to be abolished and all resolutions should be by majority votes, with full enforcement powers stated in the UN Charter.
We must make demand this from our representatives and make our voice clear that they must diligently embrace and agitate for this cause. Otherwise the whole world is threatened by major wars, that eventually unleash nuclear weapons.
Reform the International Court of Justice
The ICJ is part of the UN. Its judgments can not be enforced due to the Veto powers of the Five permanent members. It s a talking shop with no practical significance as we have all witnessed when the court ordered Israel to cease fire. Instead Israel not only continued bombing Gaza but intensified such actions. There are many plans and proposals for such reforms but due to lack of popular support they remain dormant.
Write letters and emails
The internet made it easy to find email addresses of MPs, Ministers, and presidents. So if a large number of world citizens start writing and demanding that the only way for lasting peace is the creation of viable international institutions.
